Why The Cost of Cobalt?

My name is Paul Tregunna and I am a Multimedia Journalism student at Bournemouth University.

The Cost of Cobalt is the result of My Major Multimedia Project assignment.

​

I have been aware of the child labour issues in the DRC for a few years now, I remember first hearing about in secondary school. However, I was unaware just how bad the problem was.

​

This assignment has allowed me to revisit the issue, and to do my own research. I'm very grateful to everybody who was kind enough to talk to me throughout the process. 

​

I have made important connections based in the DRC, and getting to know them has inspired me to take this project further than just a university assessment. I want to help, and I want to lend my voice to those who may otherwise go unheard.

​

Through Kit Out Kolwezi, I am hopeful that we can begin to make things better for the children in the DRC.

​

No child belongs in a mine, and we are all equal and deserve equal opportunites.
